Sân vận động tạo ra điện nhờ mặt trời

Chính quyền Đài Loan (Trung Quốc) đang xây dựng sân vận động đầu tiên trên thế giới sử dụng năng lượng mặt trời để sản xuất điện. Nó sẽ phục vụ sự kiện thể thao World Games vào tháng 7 tới.

Công trình có hình dáng giống mũi giày với 55.000 chỗ ngồi. Nó tọa lạc trên một khu đất có diện tích 19 hecta ở thành phố Kaohsiung. Sau World Games 2009, sân vận động mới sẽ phục vụ các sự kiện thể thao lớn và trở thành sân nhà của đội tuyển bóng đá Đài Loan.

Toyo Ito, một kiến trúc sư Nhật Bản, đã đưa ra một bản thiết kế đầy sáng tạo - với các tấm pin mặt trời phủ kín mái sân. Toàn bộ mái được làm bằng những thanh sắt. Khác với phần lớn sân vận động khép kín trên thế giới, tác phẩm của Ito có kết cấu mở. Với kiểu dáng bán xoắn ốc, nó giống như một con rồng đang cuộn mình khi nhìn từ trên cao.

8.844 tấm pin mặt trời sẽ sản xuất 1,14 triệu kWh điện mỗi năm - đủ để thắp sáng 3.300 bóng đèn và hai màn hình tivi khổng lồ trong sân vận động. Lượng điện thừa sẽ được bán cho người dân trong những ngày nóng nực của mùa hè. Nếu sử dụng than đá để sản xuất điện, sân vận động này sẽ thải vào không khí 660 tấn khí CO2 mỗi năm.
